The Chicago Tribune did a piece called "Check out kitchen design trends for 2014" on January 21, 2014. The author notes that instead of small glass pendants over the kitchen island, large drum pendant light fixtures as a center piece are popular . . . anything "that's brighter and more prominent may be all it takes to give your kitchen a welcome makeover".
